The NR (RC40) was Honda's showcase road bike, a hand-built, very expensive superbike that put the oval-piston V4 into production. Its 32-valve engine with two conrods per cylinder behaved almost like a V8, fed by eight-throat fuel injection. Magnesium wheels, a single-sided Pro-Arm, adjustable Showa suspension and carbon-fibre bodywork completed a technology-laden package; only around 300 were made, valued more for rarity and engineering than outright speed.
